TWEN Release Information
This page contains brief descriptions of changes and enhancements we have recently made to TWEN. We recommended that library directors, faculty support staff, and IT resources log in and familiarize yourself with the changes in order to support your internal customers at the school. We look forward to any feedback you have as we strive to improve the product and ensure we are meeting your needs.

  • Participant and Usage Tracking - Aggregate Course Activity Report

    • In addition to the current participant and usage tracking at the student and feature level, you now have the ability to create an aggregate report of all course activity exported into an Excel spreadsheet. The report provides a summary tab by feature. Each feature of the TWEN course that has course activity is listed out on a separate tab, broken down by student.

  • Calendar

    • The new calendar functionality enhances the calendaring experience for faculty, students and account managers. Calendar views include: Full Calendar (both course and personal events), Course Specific calendars, and allows for the inclusion of Academic Account Manager Training events into the calendar. Users will also have the ability to export events in iCal format into 3rd party calendars such as Outlook and Google.

  • Sign-Up Sheets - Exporting

    • Administrators now have the ability to export their sign-up sheets to an Excel spreadsheet. Sign-up information is displayed in an easy to read format.

Released earlier this year
  • Gradebook Migration

    • On August 1st, all TWEN courses that still have the old grade book will be migrated to the new grade book.

  • Gradebook

    • With the added flexibility of the new grade book, we needed to address the issue of displaying grades for assignments that are set to be displayed for a specific date range. If the assignment is no longer displaying and the faculty member releases the grades, the default will now show the assignment again, allowing students to see their grades. The new check box overrides the due date to display when the grades have been released.

  • m.lawschool.westlaw.com - Redirect mobile users

    • Customers accessing lawschool.westlaw.com from a smart phone will be seamlessly directed to m.lawschool.westlaw.com instead of the full lawschool.westlaw.com website. There will be a link to allow customers to go to the full site if they do not want to be on the mobile version.

  • Emailing Academic Account Managers or Student Reps - Confirmation Email

    • When an individual clicks on the name of an AAM or Student Rep from the Welcome Box on our site, they will receive a confirmation email sent to the email address associated with their OnePass.

  • BUG FIXES

    • Customize Polling answer character limit increased to 1000 characters.
    • Document Pages: The character limit for Add a Link has been increased from 50 characters to 500 characters
    • Copy a Course and Lock Forums - when you copy a course for your use at your own school and you have password protected forums, the lock icon and password is preserved.
    • Modify Course - Moving a participant to Co-Admin in the Modify Course section of the course no longer removes the course from the users TWEN Home page.

  • m.lawschool.westlaw.com

    • As a reminder, lawschool.westlaw.com and TWEN have now gone mobile. You can access course materials, calendars, grades; communicate with faculty and classmates; participate in forums; register for trainings and more from the new mobile site. You can access the site from any smartphone with modern browsing capabilities.
  • Participants and Usage

    • Usage tracking has been enhanced to provide better distance learning verification, providing information for faculty to more easily manage and improve their TWEN courses. Faculty will be able to see detailed usage information on the student level, as well as by TWEN Feature. This will allow faculty to see who did what in their courses and when it happened without having to contact Support to get this information. For example, if someone has deleted a document, the new Usage tracking will allow them to see who deleted it and when it was deleted. User Trail and Course Activity (aggregate usage) will become available to customers on August 1st. The existing Usage Stats feature will be removed from the site on September 1st.

  • Sent E-Mail Feature

    • Emails sent by faculty will be saved in TWEN, answering the longstanding request to preserve emails sent from TWEN. The emails are retained for six months. This feature will only retain faculty communications due to the volume of emails that would need to be retained if students were included. Until an administrator on the course sends an email, they will not see the "View Sent Emails" icon in the top, right portion of the page.

  • My Legal Projects

    • My Legal Projects iPhone application is being updated to fix the date assignment selector as well as provide the ability to launch the WestlawNext iPad app from the WestlawNext button with My Legal Projects (if the WestlawNext app is installed on the device).

  • Emailing Academic Account Managers or Student Reps - Confirmation Email

    • When an individual clicks on the name of an AAM or Student Rep from the Welcome Box on our site, they will receive a confirmation email sent to the email address associated with their OnePass.

  • lawschool.westlaw.com Portal Redesign : Changes include:

    • Welcome box has been changed and now includes information that was previously in the Support Box.
    • Addition of the Customer Text Inquiries link in the Welcome box for faculty to link out to find their West and Foundation Press Publishing Account Managers.
    • WestlawNext Live Help link located directly under the Welcome Box.
    • Legal Research Center has been moved from the center of the page to the left side of the page under the Welcome box. The LRC has tabs for WestlawNext and Westlaw. The default tab is WestlawNext. If a user does not have access to WLN, they will not see that tab displayed.
    • Training box is located under the Legal Research Center on the left side of the page.
    • Marketing Player in the middle of the page. This is a rotating player that will display up to four different ads.
    • The Account Manager School Announcement box is directly under the new player.

  • Streaming Multimedia for TWEN via Law School Exchange

    • Selected faculty will be able to upload, distribute, and share multimedia files with TWEN courses (students) or other Law School Exchange faculty. Upload of media files and limited editing are performed directly within a TWEN document page, with full editing functions occurring in Law School Exchange.
